What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. The really simple definition is: People finding their way to your website via an online search.
On-The-Web-Now! is an SEO company and we always include SEO services in every new website we build. Ideally, the process of optimising your website for Google and other search engines starts before your website is designed. This process requires:
- Identifying the ‘real-world’ search terms that are relevant.
- Incorporating those terms into the technical structure of your website (through HTML).
- Gaining incoming site links from external sources.
This is a very simply summary. We’d be happy to explain more if you’re interested.
Google Search Results
There are currently three main types of listings on a Google results page:
- Google AdWords
(Paid advertising – may sometimes be worth considering)
- Google Plus (Map Listing)
(We will advise you about registering for this)
(These are the free, natural results)
The initial goal of SEO is for your website to appear on the first page of Google’s free ‘organic’ results when someone searches for your relevant terms.
So how will you know how your website is performing? Hopefully, you will be seeing an upturn in enquiries! Secondly, you will receive a monthly summary showing:
- How many times your website is visited.
- How many are ‘return’ visits and how many are ‘unique’ visits.
- Where visitors came from.
(i.e. direct, a referral from another website, from searches, etc.)
- Much more can be learned from the website analytics if required.
All of our clients receive a monthly analytics report.
I already have a website – can it be optimised?
Possibly. First we will need to look at your website and assess the initial changes that need to be made. We will also need to transfer your website to our own hosting services and provide our monthly web services package. This may require the cooperation of your existing service provider.
If you would like us to assess your website for SEO improvements please email us your URL (website address) and we’ll take a look through your site and get back to you.
